CNN/ORC 2016 National Presidential Poll

  • Chris Christie (R) 48%
  • Hillary Clinton (D) 46%

Among Independents

  • Chris Christie (R) 59%
  • Hillary Clinton (D) 33%

National survey of 950 registered voters was conducted December 16-19, 2013. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.

    How on Earth can Christie be winning independent voters by 26% and be up only 2% nationally? This pollster must be REALLY oversampling Democrats and must be assuming that Hillary will have the same turnout as Obama did in 2008 and 2012.

    Regardless of the discrepancy, this is great news.

    This is becoming a trend, with Christie now consistently ahead of Clinton. There is also a gender gap building against Clinton, with men breaking as heavily for the republican as women are for the democrat.

    Republicans have been dominating the independent vote for years.
