WaPo characterizes Bush’s statements in an interview with NBC News’ Chuck Todd as such:

Allahpundit, however, is not so sure:
WaPo’s selling this as a semi-reversal of yesterday’s full reversal on citizenship for illegals, but I’m not sure that’s true. Watch the clip below (via Think Progress). He’s not saying that he’s suddenly changed his mind and now prefers citizenship to permanent residency. He’s saying that, hypothetically, if you could grant citizenship without creating a huge incentive for more people to cross the border, he’d be okay with that. Since there’s no way to do that, though, he’s sticking with the permanent residency option.
What do you think? Have at it in the comments.

Bush is so yesterdays news. Some politicians such as Newt and now Jeb Bush don’t know how to go away quietly and just hurt the cause.

I don’t know if Bush can get elected in 2016. What I DO know is that he can do the job effectively if he gets it. Nominating someone who can do the job has to be a higher priority for us than nominating someone less electable but more likely to win…..as a matter of basic ethics.
But,I’ve also always thought that if we elect Rubio we get Bush and get the best of both worlds.

Comparing Jeb and Newt. Lulz. I’m guessing your joking?

what a mess of a roll out. I know sometimes you just want to focus on substance but
1) when no one understands what you are saying
2) When everyone thinks you changed a position you long held…
3) when no is all that thrilled about the change
4) see 1)
…then you have done a shitty roll out and needless made enemies rather than earn respect even amongst those who traditionally disagree with you. What a shitty roll out whose only actual effect is to make Rubio’s efforts on this

…look reasonable? I agree. Other than he has a book coming out, I’m not sure what has triggered this Jeb in the media phase…it’s very early, and (unlike christie, rubio, jindal, others) he is not in a position to do anything about any of his ideas. Feels like the undercard, or the first band at a long festival.

This isn’t a roll-out, it’s a book tour. He’s discussing one issue to clear it for when he actually has a roll-out later. He wants to have some wiggle room with hispanics who feel unwelcome in the GOP (i.e., we’re not looking to mass deport folks who are self-sufficient, and are willing to create a more workable legal framework in the future), while still being able to speak with those who want a more strict approach (i.e., there still needs to be a difference in how we treat those who came illegally and those who came legally). Some might want more rigidity in his approach, but that didn’t serve Mitt well, which was exactly Jeb’s point.

Why delete my post about Hugo dying??

Joe #4,
I agree.
And what the hell is the anti-science stuff? I always hated that argument, “anti-science,” it’s all fluff and no substance.
If one is religious he’s anti-science? Please, that’s crap.
If one is legitimately skeptical of global warming, he’s anti-science? That’s crap too. It’s amazing that a political party thinks they can claim the weather. Democrats claim a blizzard or a hurricane or a tornado was caused by climate change. It’s amazing how stupid people are.
I just didn’t think Jeb was this stupid.
I’m back to not supporting John Bush.

The only thing I took away from this video is that John Bush is afraid of the media. John Bush is afraid of Chuck Todd.
Any republican who is afraid of the media is going to lose, and lose huge.
One thing Christie has is he’s not afraid of the media. Can another republican show such nerves of steel? Rubio does not appear to be afraid of the media either. Other than that, our party is a bunch of pussies.
